Tracks Through East Africa:
photography and paintings from Rhode Island artists on African soil

If you’re in the Rhode Island area, come on out to Orbie’s Cafe in Wakefield — local art, local fare, delicious coffees and teas.  My images from East Africa will be on display starting in April, with an opening event happening on April 22nd, Earth Day.

The gallery opening will be a collaboration with Pam Santos, another local artist who recently traveled to Ethiopia and created beautiful paintings along the way.

A portion of all proceeds from the event will be donated to the Dorobo Fund, a non-profit working to help indigenous communities in Tanzania to secure rights to their land and natural resources, and to achieve other sustainable development objectives.  I worked with Dorobo in Tanzania, and was amazed and inspired by their work in community-based ecotourism and dedication to empowering the indigenous communities with whom they partner.

You can read more about my work with Dorobo elsewhere on this blog; here is a link to a story about our incredible time with the Hadza.

To see some of the images to be featured in the show, please visit my website and go to the East Africa section of my portfolio.  Also visit Pam Santos’ website at her Travel portfolio.

Hope to see you on Earth Day!
